Is this Gene Hunt's Cop Narnia or have we actually slid through a wormhole to thirty years in the past?

*Ed, from my mum. I am dead of envy.

We got one for Charles & Diana and Randy Andy & Fergie so as Wills is heir to the throne then the country would insist upon it. There will be street parties! I must move house!

I object on chronological and personal grounds to the 1979 General Election being co-opted into "the Eighties". I was born in the first months of Maggie's reign of terror, and like to think of myself as a child of the seventies.

Just so long as we don't have to go back to using 1980s computers... *shudder* I lived through that once, and once was enough. You never hear computer geeks talking about "the good old days", 'cos they were "the crap old days". Slow, expensive, flaky, etc. I really don't need to relive my ZX80 wobbly RAM pack days, unless it's in a virtual machine window on my whizzy 21st century machine.

I was too poor for a Bigtrak first time round ;-)

I said on Facebook the other day that this is probably a brilliant time to be a kid, because it is just like the 80s but with Harry Potter and tech! I'm now wondering if we're living in The Future as imagined by Tomorrow's World, in which case Metal Mickey should be here to do the washing up and the hoovering!

I'm sure Ed will let you come and play with his Big Trak.
