I put that I'm in the middle of doing it now; we are doing it today, but so far we have only discussed where the storage boxes might be. I really ought to get up!

I think it has to be twenty eleven. A year should not have as many as seven syllables, so I always thought this would be the year that format would truly take hold. also it sounds really futuristic!

Yes, I thought the "twenty-whatever" format would have to kick in this year too but I can't get used to it. Next year is definitely twenty-twelve though.

I really need an option for 'I'm in the middle of doing it now... honest!'

Yes, this. In my case "I can't be bothered so am procrastinating on LJ instead".

Because Heath's birthday is on NYE, we now always take everything Christmassy down by the 30th at the latest.

My sister's birthday is the 28th, mine is the 30th, and my brother's is the 3rd Jan, and we always left ours up for all the birthdays! (We only put the tree up on Christmas Eve, mind you.)

Fair enough, we just want to make them very distinct events.

Yes, I'm all for that! I always make sure my siblings' birthday presents are not wrapped in Christmas paper, and we always had separate birthday cakes (which resulted n a total overload of cake by the time my brother's birthday rolled around!).

It is not yet twelfth night, so it is not yet time to take down Christmas decorations.

Peter was brought up to believe that taking decorations down before Twelfth Night was immoral, and I'm always happy to put chores off, particularly when they involve putting things in the loft. :)

Decorations don't come down until the Epiphany here (January 6), so I've got a few more days of sparkly, blinking things to go. This was the first year in over a decade I put up decorations - and only at work - but I actually like having them and I fear the place will look a little empty once they're gone.

We always leave them up until the 8th, because the 7th is Bosic - Serbian Orthodox Christmas, which we always mark in rememberence of the girls' father and grandmother, both of whom were Serb Orthodox.

I leave them up until Twelfth Night. Taking them down earlier seems very wrong.

I always find it seems more wrong to leave them up beyond school reopening and everyone going back to work, but I always used to get cross when my parents took them down the day after New Year's Day! I'm leaving them up for now, they go with the snow. I might get around to it tomorrow.

Did I? Ha! Maybe if I was actually in my house more often it would have happened ;-)

I am amazed that 28 people didn't put any decorations up in the first place! Humbug!
