I always sing the mother line, but I have also heard the Himmler and Goebbels one as well.

This suggests that it is And there's another one about Hitler's mother throwing the absent gonad into a conker tree, and it falling into the sea so that the fishes all had scallops and bollocks for tea.

If it's not stuck in your head already it will be by the time you've heard this. Don't say I didn't warn you.

Oh, I've already been whistling it all day, much to the confusion of the plasterer I'm currently babysitting...

Albert Hall (though I know the others) for the first part, but for the second part at primary we had "His mother was a dirty bugger, and she was the worst of them all". I didn't hear about her cutting it off (although actually it was "chopped" in the version I heard) or the other variations until secondary. There were many other verses I can no longer remember.

I'm not sure I ever heard any other verses besides variations on the ones in the poll. I think I was aware of all those by the time I left primary school, though.

There were never more than 15 in my class at primary, so variations of anything were slight.

Previously it was the mother line for me until my BF started repeatedly singing the 'Goering has two but very small.' Repeatedly. In fact he has already sung this to me this morning before I even saw this post and I am now convinced that it would be best to consider today a write-off and go back to bed.

I am blaming coverage of the Remembrance Day Parade for getting the tune stuck in my head. Goering had not featured in any version I had heard before yesterday but I'm starting to think it might be my favourite. "Goebbels has no balls at all" is the most lyrically pleasing.

That tune will be stuck in your head all day now.

[*] But that's okay, as it might help me block out the rap music being played in the office this morning.

Hitler has only got one ball
The other is in the Albert Hall
His mother - the dirt bugger - chopped it off when he was small.

Sung to the tune of the Colonel Bogey March, as demonstrated here.

Interestingly I only ever heard the first line and then it went into vague whistling - bear in mind I had a roman catholic upbringing so to even say 'ball' was very daring and imperiling your mortal soul or maybe it was just carrying on the papal tradition of nazi appeasement.....

My Dad sang it a lot. No idea why.

I've also heard 'The other is in the County Hall' but not sure where that came from.

I used to love singing this at school. Doubt I had a clue what it meant, but I used to love the final line about (in our version) "poor old Goebbels" having no balls at all.

Lol.

Those are mixing the first and second verses, surely?

"Hitler has only got one ball, the other... etc." is verse one. "Hitler has only got one ball, Goering has two... etc." is verse two.

Ah, no. You see, Hitler's mother, whilst assuredly a bugger, is, in fact, a silly bugger rather than a dirty one.

Happy to help.

Interesting. The suggestion of Mrs Hitler's silliness - as opposed to dirtiness - raises the question of accidental de-nadding and introduces a new interpretation not only of the song, but possibly a significant chunk of twentieth century history. Cor!

His mother, the dirty bugger.

The second verse mentioned scallops and bollocks.

Milf's version was
Rommell has two but very small
Himmler is very similar
And goebbels has no balls, at all.

For some bizarre reason, the second line that's been stuck in my head for about 30 years is "the other is only four foot tall". This makes no sense at all, so I don't know how it got there... I've never had occasion to sing it out loud to anyone so my error only recently came to light. Y'see, last week one of those spoof British citizenship tests came up, and this song was part of the test. And I had no idea at that time where one of Hitler's balls was. I know *now* as my colleagues explained it all to me.

Ooh, I just had a thought! Do you suppose the height of the absent testicle in your version relates to the "kitchen wall" in [livejournal.com profile] mofette's? Lichfield is quite near where you grew up, isn't it? Perhaps this is a regional variation to which the rest of us were not party?
